BOY SCOUTS
If present weather conditions continue, the Boy Scouts should have a very enjoyable and profitable eight days at Gladstone Siding under canvas, where a combined camp ot Greymouth and Hokitika troops is to he held. There will he also in camp a patrol from tho Christchurch Linwood troop. Scoutmaster Butcher, formerly of Grey mouth, and now oif Wellington is coining on holiday, and will he in charge of the camp. In the Linwood patrol are first-class and King’s scouts, and among the many matters of instruction it is intended to train those who can swim in the methods of rescue of the drowning. Bathing will he permitted only at fixed hours, and under strictest supervision. The local hoys, under their Scoutmaster, leave Hokitika on Monday morning next l»y the 8.-10 train, mustering at the station at 8 a.in. A list of articles to he taken into camp, has been issued to each scout, and in the event of the weather being too wet for tenting, there is a building available. \\ itli such strenuous outdoor exercise appetites are sure t<> he developed, and It is almost need, less to recommend each chap to take with him what he can. such as jxits ol jam. cakes etc. to augment the larder.
