THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
Stimulating Imperial Trade. As Chairman of the Empire Marketing Board, I am directly concerned with the stimulation of the sale of home and overseas Imperial products in the United Kingdom, and in the development by scientific research of the economic resources of the Empire. These are important aspects of the problem of increasing the common resources and wealth of the British lands all over the world. The problem is one so closely affecting the welfare of British citizens that we cannot afford to neglect it. Private merchants have their part to play no less than governments and official bodies. It is for them to study the business openings within the Empire for the industries in which they are concerned. That they are doing so cannot he denied, and every fresh proof of their eagerness and efficiency is welcome. The prizes at stake are great, and deserve to be striven for with the utmost vigour. —lit.
