Telegraph—Per Press Association.. PRINCE CAROL. PARIS, Oct. 20. Newspapers state Prince Carol has definitely broken with Madame Lupescu, apparently owing to a series of newspaper articles upon herself and the Prince which made Carol most angry. A violent scene followed, after which Aladame Lupescu left weeping, and she has gone to Vienna. Roumanian circles in Paris say this may be the preliminary to Carol claiming a restoration of his rights of succession. AN EPIC OF THE SEA. HONG KONG, Oct. 21. The steamer Irene, with six European officers, en route to Hong Kong from Sangbai. was captured by pirates when proceeding past Bias Bay. A British submarine signalled the vessel but received no reply, and approached nearer, whereupon the pirates opened tire with revolvers. The submarine then shelled the Irene which hurst into flames. The pirates and passengers leapt overboard. Tbe submarine picked up 220 out of a total of 258 aboard, 'file Irene is still a float though gutted. There were many heroic incidents. 'l'lie submarine stayed alongside the blazing inferno throughout the night, the crew diving repeatedly to rescue the struggling Chinese.
RHINE FORCES. BERLIN, Oct. 20
Tbe withdrawal of 6500 French troops, one thousand British and five hundred Belgians, from the Rhineland is now practically completed, reducing the allied international force to sixty thousand.
