VISITORS TO U.S. DETAINED. HONOLULU, Oct. 20. Norman Cohen and Thelma Levy, of Sydney, on route to Vancouver by the Niagara, over-stayed when they went ashore on October 7th, and applied the following day for permission to travel via San Francisco to Vancouver, but were arrested and detained under a bond. They have appealed to Washington, alleging high-handed treatment by tlie immigration officials, who they say placed tho worst possible complexion on the lacts of their case. AIR COOLIDGE DECLINES TO STAND. AVASHINGTON, Oct. 20. Senator Foss, after bis White House call, said that Air Coolidge was displeased with the re-election boom conducted on his behalf by Republican leaders, and gave tbe impression it would not be dropped by the Republican Convention next year. Senator Fess intimated that Afr Coolidge vigorously protested against tbe suggestion that lie would be a Republican nominee by virtue of the draft. Senator loss told Air Coolidge lie would continue to work for bis renomination, and that there is very strong public opinion in favour of same, but Air Coolidge insisted that bis choice to refuse was meant seriously.
