(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. WASHINGTON, Sept. 17. Mr William McAdoo, whose contest with Governor Al. Smith for the Presidential nomination nearly caused the collapse of the 1921 Democratic Convention, announced he will not bo an aspirant for nomination in 1928, and by inference invited his opponent to withdraw. Mr Smith declined to comment.

AVIATION FATALITIES. NEW YORK, Sept. IS

Three of the ten deaths that were recorded in airplane accidents in America on Saturday, were those of naval fliers named Booth, Mcßae and Harrison. They left San Diego early in the morning to fly to Spokane to act as official observers for the coming week’s great air race from New York. Two hours later their plane crashed in the Mojave desert, the trio of men being killed instantly.
