NEW ZEALAND TEAM AT HOME. AGAINST LEVESON GOWER’S ELEVEN. AIATCII DRAWN. (Australian A N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Sept. 13. On resuming play, Douglas and F. Gilligan continued their stubborn defence till a follow on was averted. Tho pair together added 97 in a two hours partnership, Gilligan hitting six lours. The innings which closed at 31G, was a much more respectable total than once seemed likely. It lasted exactly the same time as the New Zealanders but produced 131 runs less. Bain began just before the last wicket fell and play could not he resumed till 4.30. The English climate thus robbed the visitors of a hv no means had chance of a great last match win. When New Zealand went in again it was far 'too lute to obtain a definite result. The proceedings therefore wore uninteresting and as at 5.30 the light failed and rain began again, the game was abandoned, ending in a draw Blunt continued his splendid first innings form and was still in at the finish but it was a dull end to the tour, which all hoped would worthily have been crowned l>v a one innings victory.
