WELLINGTON, Sept. 9 THE COUNCIL.

The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. A further 1-1 days leave of absence was granted to Hon Rikihana on account of illness in his famiy. The AY nr Funds Bill and Savings Banks Amendment Bill were put through their final stages and passed.

In committee, the War Disabilities Removal Bill, Hon Malcolm .moved that a provision providing for the removal of disabilities imposed on military defaulters by the War Legislation in 1918 be deleted. Several speakers expressed their views erfeieerning the advisability of admitting those who have been penalised, before tlie period elapsed provided for in the Act, and on a division being taken an amendment was carried by 24 votes to 9. The Bill as amended was put through the final stages and passed. The Council then adjourned at 4.15 until Wednesday next. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. In the House the third readings of two Land and Income Tax Bills were agreed to on voices, after a lengthy debate and the Bills were passed. Votes for Agriculture Department £360,036 and State Forests £236,391 were passed.

The House rose at 2.30 till 2.30 on Tuesday.
