The Davis Cup committee at Philadelphia held its first drawings for matches between France and United States opening on Germantown Cricket Club grounds to-morrow. Johnson meets Lacoste and Tilden meets Coeliet in the opening singles. The doubles drawing will he made to-morrow. The general impression is that France has tlio best, chance it lias yet had of taking the cup. Lacoste. Cachet. Boroiru and Brugnon are nil reported to lie in excellent form, despile earlier rumours that liomtru is slightly o[f the game. On the other hand Tilden is understood to have been playing much hotter than during his European tour, while Johnston shows little or no variation from previous seasons. Jt is believed Johnston and Lacoste are about even, hilt that Tilden faces a hard battle with Coclict.
