Tokio, Australia and New Zealand, his objective being a polar exploration and a meteorological study. -NEW YORK HEAT WAVE. NEW YORK. July 18. It is now estimated that 159 deaths were due directly to the heat wave. Of these eighty occurred in New A :>rk City. Breezes finally brought relief, hut the weather officials declared this is only temporary and the temperature is due to rise again shortly. Hundreds of thousands of people thronged the beaches.
