ROSS NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent)

The funeral of the late Mrs Sharkey took place at the Ross Cemetery on Tuesday morning, and was followed by a large number of friends, including a number from Hokitika and South Westland, attending to pay their last respects to the memory of deceased. Rev. Father O’Dolmrty conducted the services at the church and giateside. On Thursday last the meeting addressed by Mr J. Thacker at the Coronation Hall was well attended by the farmers of the district. Mr J. Mineban. President of the local Farmers Union presided. Mr Thacker, who is the sitting member of No. 7 Ward of the Dairy Control Board, gave a lengthy and interesting address and fully explained the operations of the Board since its inception. He received a good hearing and at the close of the address satisfactorily answered a number of questions. Mr J. Thomson moved and Mr T. Minehan seconded a vote of confidence in the Board and pledged themselves to support Air Thacker’s candidature for re-election on the Board.
