The Federal Conference of the Australian l.ahonr Party at Canherra endorsed the Labour candidature of Captain Conway for Wnrringah seat in the Federal Parliament, rendered vacant by Mr Ry ries’ resignation, consequent on his appointment to High Commissionership. The Scale faction supports Afr Ogorman and has instructed its members t> take the platform in his support. Messrs Lang and Willis decided Lo .support Mr Ogormnu, other members of the Cabinet supporting Captain Conway. The split in the Cabinet led to a .scene before the Governor when at a meeting of the Executive Council. Mr Lang attempted to place his private secretary in a position at the head of the Child Welfare and Women’s Pensions Department at a salary of L’lToO. Other members of Cabinet objected to the appointment and the Governor referred the matter hack to Cabinet. PRINTERS’ STRIKE. PERTH, Mav IP. A compulsory conference between the parties to the dispute in the Printing Trades was held before the President of the State Arbitration Court, who. after hearing both sides, directed that the matters in dispute should he brought before the Court, and ordered the men to resume work immediately. The men. however, did not resume last night.
