[Australian & N.Z. Cablo Association.] ASSISTANCE DESPATCHED. SYDNEY. May 2. A tug lias been despatched from Brisbane and a steamer from Batavia to the assistance of the Tasman. STRANDED STEAMER. BRISBANE, -May 3. The passengers arc remaining aboard the Tasman. Fine weather and culm seas are being experienced. As the Tasman is in no immediate danger and she is unable to render assistance owing to insufficient depth of water, the steamer Iloutiiiiin resumed her voyage. The, Tasman has three thousand toils of cargo consisting mostly of kapok, tea and fibre. Portion of this, to lighten her, may have to lie transhipped to the steamer Vatiderwyck which left Batavia for the scene of the stranding. The passengers will also be transhipped, if necessary. JAPANESE VISIT. SYDNEY. A lay 3. The .Management Committee of the New South Wales Rugby Union decided to refer to Now Zealand, a proposal to invite a team from Japan during July and August. The suggestion emanated from Japan and included New Zealand.
