BOWLING.
The final game of the Ciiristchurcli Bowling Centre’s Champion of Champions rink competition took plfcce on the Linwood green on Saturday afternoon. The green was in excellent order, running keen and true, but a gusty wind made play somewhat tricky at times. Otherwise the weather conditions were quite favourable. Play throughout was of a most interesting nature and the leading of Hollis (Lyttelton) was the best that had been seen for some coniderable time. He was absolutely invincible, and deserves very great credit indeed for his performance. Although the other players of both sides played good bowls. Hollis stood out on his own. The game wts a i lose one up to nearly the end when, with three heads to go, the Xew Brighton team were a;i. On the second last head Lyttelton scored one point, and on the final head they got a marvellous six points, which won them the game. It was :a wonderful performance, and lack of judgment on Xew Brighton’s part, cost them the | championship. It is remarkable to relate that the whole twenty-one heads which were played were threequarter length or long, not one short head being played. The game was under the direction of Air E. AV. Wade, who carried out his duties to the entire satisfaction of both teams. The following were the teams. Lyttelton—AV. Hollis. J. Collins AV Taylor, and D. Page (s) 24. Xew Brighton—L. Lawrence. G. Lawrence, F. Barrett, and F. I>. Aluirson (s) 23. I
