The Executive met at 8.5 p.m. Pre-
sent : Dr Teielieimaini (President), Messrs T. W. Duff, IV. Butler, Craw, F. Orr, W. D. Mackay, W. Wilson, f). J. Evans, J. LV. Morris. W. E. Rhoards. Apology ms made for the absence of Mr Jeffries.
On behalf of the League, Air Duff extruded a welcome to Dr Teiehelmann on his safe return, and said liow glad they all were to see. the Doctor looking so well. (Hoar hear). Dr Teiehelmann thanked the memlkors for their cordial welcome. The minutes were confirmed and the outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE.
From Grey District League suggesting representatives to attend deputation at Wellington regarding the timber industry. Received. It was resolved to confer with the Alayor and the County Chairman regarding an accredited representative being sent from the district.
From Duller Progress League stating the League would endeavour to arrange a conference- with regard to th? Coastal road.—Received. Air Jeffries was appointed delegate. From Westland County Council forwarding a contribution of £lO to the League funds. -Received with thanks.
from Southland and Marlborough Leagues forwarding copies of monthly meetings.—Received. From X./. Tourist League, Auckland, forwarding copy of bulletin with regard to the furtherance of tourist traffic—Received. The opinion pressed that the work proposed was the task-fm- the Tourist Department. GENERAL,
Air defines was appointed to represent the League in a proposed visit to .Marlborough via the Top-house route which it was expected would be noon for motor traffic next month.
Appreciation was expressed at the action of the Railway Department in arranging cheap fares from Canterbury to the Coast. The opinion was expressed that the intercourse brought about would be of considerable value ultimately. A vote of thanks was passed to Air Evans for the prompt measures taken with regard to the Christchurch excursions. Messrs Evans and Morris reported in regard to the continuous ''telephone exchange. It was resolved to make another effort to secure the necessary minilver of signatures to assure the convenience of the all-night telephone. Dr Teielielinann reported in respect to' calls on the Tourist Officers at Melbourne and Sydney, and it was resolved to send further literature for free distribution at the. Government offices. Mr Mackny spoke appreciably of the action of the British Government in protecting life in China, sentiments which were endorsed generally. Dr Teichelmann spoke in regard to the publicity work at Home to advertise tourist resorts by art posters and other means, and considered something of a similar character should be pui-sued in this district. He displayed some samples of the posters which were distinctive for some arresting I view and the brief but bold letterpress | which supplemented the story the picture itself told.
