America cancelled. lie says that the Australian Workers’ I niou will send a delegate to America, and will take no notice of any decision arrived at hv the Tralles and Labour Council.

A serious accident to the AlelbourneAdelaide express was narrowly averted to-day, when the front wheels of the engine left- the rails near Motility Lofty. An investigation showed that a large piece of iron had been placed across the line, causing the wheels to jump. No one was injured. NEW ZEALAND RUTTER. SYDNEY, Jnn. 22.

A terrific storm accompuiictl by thunder and lightning, occurred at Parkes. .Many buildings-were struck by lightning and ruined. A building was unroofed by Hie gale, trees were uprooted and nearly two inches ol rain fell in btlf an hour, some places being Hooded. A PECULIAR AFFAIR. MELBOURNE, Jan. 22. .
A three year old hoy, Robert Murray Boyd, died at Prince Allred Hospital from the effects of poison. When the hoy reached home ho told Ills mother who lives at Richmond that an unknown man bad stopped him and asked him if he wanted a drink. The man then handed the boy a lemonade bottle. The hoy became ill and \u is removed to the’ hosital. A post mortem examination reveals that the boy s mouth and throat were burned possibly by spirits of salts.
