INFLUENZA

WELLINGTON. Jan. 12,

Inquiries made among local medical practitioners show that there is at present a mild epidemic of an influen-za-like disease in Wellington city and suburban districts, particularly in the 1 Mitt Valley. The disc ■asp, though chiefly attacking children, is not confined to them. Tt is of a mild nature and there have been no deaths. There is also a marked freedom from complications.

Inquiries in regard to the general influenza position show that serious types of disease me of very low incidence. For the four weeks ended January 10 there were in the whole of New Zeal'and only six cases and three deaths, which is ordinary and under the epidemic level. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12.

Inquiries made list night in Christchurch show that there is nothing unusual in respect of influenza in the city, and there has been nothing to cause local medical practitioners to get in touch with the Public Health Office. There are ml ways a certain number of influenza cases at this time of the year, but so far there has been nothing to occasion, any concern.
