Advice received by the police at Gisborne states that Reginald Horace • Huddleston, aged 26, a single shepherd of AVhakntanc, yesterday blew the top of his head off with a shot gun. THEFT OF FURR. AUCKLAND, JSept. 26. Early on Tuesday night. September 14th., a particularly daring burglary occurred, when a raid was made on.the premises of AA\ AA*. Platt, furrier, 25 • AA'ellesley Street, furs of a total value of £l5O being stolen. The front door of the shop had been forced open and this was discovered by a constable when on his rounds late in the evening. A careful selection of fox and other furs of the latest shades and styles was made by the cracksmen. Ever since the local detectives have been actively engaged in prosecuting inquiries with the utmost rigor. Yesterday morning: Detectives Noon, Barling and McAVhirter found a considerable quantity of furs in a room occupied by three men. The three men were taken into custody while in the afternoon another man was arrested in a city hotel. It was hoped that as a result of the detaining of the quartette the whole matter will be cleared up. FOUND SHOT. AUCKLAND. Sept. 26. A man, who is believed to he a resident of Palmerston, but whose identity has not yet been definitely established, was found -lying dead on the beach at Opoua Bay, near Titirangi on Saturday afternoon. An envelope found
on the body'was addressed “D. Brown. Excelsior House, Palmerston North.” The initals “D. 8.” were found on the band of the hat. When found, the deceased had ;; bullet wound in his head and a repeatin" pea-rifle was Ivin" on the "round at bis feet. He had apparently been dead four or five hours. The deceased was a man of about 25 years of age, and about 5 feet -1 inches in.height-. He was fresh coniplexioned and clean shaven, with reddish hair and blue eyes.
