The match did not begin till 6.30 p.m. There were six thousand spectators present. The Maoris started finely. They employed dribbling freely, and they opened their scoring account with a try, which was converted. After this Haupapa obtained a dropped goal from a mark. Then Manageur. for Burgundy, scored an unconverted try. Pijtaka, Phillips, and Olsen next scored'tries in quick succession, the first and third of which were converted. The Maoris led at half time by 21 to 3. The homo side rallied in the second half, but despite their desperate defence, Lockwood and Stewart scored two more tries, neither of which was converted.
