A RUGBY RIFT. WELLINGTON, September 7. fn connection with tlm controversy over the Hawke’s Bay-Wellington Rugby Match for the Ranfurly Shield, in which Wellington were decisively beaten, some discussion took place at to-night’s meeting of the Wellington Union.

The Secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Union said, in a letter, that some of the Wellington press criticism was not only prejudiced, but was in bad taste. The writer, on behalf of his Union, asked the Wellington Union to disassociate itself from the criticisms that had appeared in certain papers. Such sin action would carry great weight with the sporting public of Wellington.

One member of the Wellington l nion said that remarks in the papers had nothing to do with the Union.
