WESTLAND COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.

The Executive of tho above met at the County Chambers at 4.40 o’clock yesterday. Present: Mr D. J. Evans (President), Kevd. Knovvles-Smith (Vice-President), Messrs , Partridge, Conning, Pilkin.gton, .Morris, Coulson and Lynn.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the correspondence received. The secretary submitted a draft statement of accounts in connection v.-ith the late competitions. The receipts to date were £lO3 5s 6d, and providing for the expenses there would be a credit balance of about £SO. The statement was received as very satisfactory, and it was resolved when all the accounts were finalised to call a general meeting of members of the Society. place the statement before the meeting, and .make arrangements for future operations.

Tho Secretary reported that Miss P. Dowell with 720 marks was the highest individual competitor, and was the winner of the special prize offered by Mr J. J. Mclntosh. It was decided to hold a winding up social at tho Soldiers’ Hall on Thursday night, when prizes would be presented and a forecast given of future work. 'flie social will commence at 8 o’clock with a short concert programme, for which it is hoped to have the assistance of competitors. At 9 o’clock the prizes will he presented, followed by supper. Thereafter there will lie music and dancing. AH competitors and a friend each will be admitted free. The charge for other than those mentioned will be, adults Is,’ children Gd. It was resolved to acknowledge with thanks the kind services of Miss Daly as official accompanicst. and also tho help given by tbe Bristol Piano Coy. in granting the use of tho piano.

The services of the Secretary were specially appreciated, and a tribute paid to Mr Morris for the care and attention devoted to all the detail work, which enabled the competitions to proceed so smoothily.

A general discussion took place in regard to future operations, the feeling being to hold the Competitions about the same time of the year, to extend over three days, and if possible to secure larger hall accommodation.
