Palmer's Creek Bridge and Approaches. This work was completed during Llie month and the bridge and approaches finished as specified. MAINTENANCE. Repairs were effected to portions of Arahuru Valley, Fox’s, .Spencer, and One Aide Roads. Slips were removed from Stafford drain, and a drain cleaned to take off stagnant water near Stafford School. CENTRAL RTDTNG.

Outlet Drain Bridge and Approaches. The working party under the direction of Bridge Foreman 11. Reynolds completed this work early in the month, and the bridge, and approaches have been open for traffic since the ltitli inst.

Kanieri River Bridge, Kokatahi Road. Repairs to this bridge wore commenced under the direction of Bridge Foreman Reynolds and defective stringers, decking, and blind railings were removed and replaced with heart of riinu timber. AA’all Road Metalling. The contractors have completed ton chains of formation and twelve chains of metalling, in workmanike manner. Progress has been delayed owing to constant repairs being necessary to forty chains of the old metalled portion of road, which cut u]> badly under the haulage of metal for the new work. MAINTENANCE.

Repairs were effected with gravel to portions of Lower Kokatahi. AA’all, Koiterangi and Arthurstown Roiids, and with gravel and crushed metal to Blue Spur and Lake Kanieri Roads. Watertables were cleaned on Blue Spur, Lake Kanieri and Lower Kokwtah Roads; gorso 'and scrub cleared on Lower Kokatahi and Lake Kanieri i-oads. Defective decking renewed on Duck Creek and Kokatahi River Bridges, and several small culverts and bridges on Lower Kokatahi and Lake Kanieri Roads. The crushing plant at Kanieri was operated for a few days wtli good results, all the machinery being in good order. SOUTHERN RIDING.

Evan’s Rond .Metalling was continued but not quite completed. So far a very satisfactory job lias been made of the whole of the work. Drainage Alain Highway at Hnrihari. The vote was expended in cleaving scrub and blackberry, reopening nine chains of old drain, and constructing eight chains of new drain; also constructing one 18-inch diameter concrete pipe culvert on the approach to the sale yards, Harihari. Adamson Road Metalling was completed a distance of between twelve and thirteen chains linking up the two completed portions of the metalled road giving access to Lower Wataroa. MAINTENANCE. • Rc-adman AVhitisko attended to repairs on "Wanganui Flat, Petersen’s, and various roads in the Harihari district.

The large road grader, hauled by the County No 1 lorry, was operated by Roadman Nolan on Scally, Rutler, and a, portion of Wat-ai’oa Flat Roads with fair results. The roads treated appear very rough with loose stone, but when completed will not cause any inconvenience to the travelling public.
