BOY SCOUTS.

(Contributed.)

A party of the Second Hokitika scouts spent recently, a very happy six days o-inip in some huts belonging to Air Iveliy. at Awatuna. Nearly all the available boys spent at least a portion of the time in camp, though one or two vyere prevented by sickness or work. Tn spite of some very frosty nights all had a comfortable time and would have welcomed a longer stay. -Although the weather and water was unsuitable for what lias been the chief

attraction at previous clamps at this spot, namely swimming, there was no difficulty in finding plenty to do on the shore and inland, and scouting games

and practices went with great vim. On one of the cooler days a hike to the mouth of the TerainakUn proved verv interesting. The journey each

way was made on foot with the loaded trek-cart in excellent time. During the camp I). Kerr passed his tests and

was enrolled as a Tenderfoot. On Tuesday last week tlioso cubs who 'are approaching scout age started off to spend tne remainder of the week in camp south ot the river, lhe main idea of this camp is final training for going up into the Scout Troop, and with fine weather a very busy time was experienced. Unfortunately two of the boys were prevented from, coming by sickness but these boys should be of great uso to the troop, in tlie future if tlioir present entliusism in cubbing is maintained in thenwork as scouts, 'and the two who are away will do their best to catch up with their comrades as soon as thenhealth allows. Singing practices restart this week, on Thursday.
