The “ Observer’s ” Paris correspondent states:—"The utmost France and Britain are willing to consider is a modification whereby France will be given a. greater part of Tangier adniinitsartion. hut even this solution is hindered by the treaty provisions.” The “ Sunday Times ” diplomatic correspondent learns the British Government arges that the holding of a conference on Tangier at so short notice would not serve a useful purpose'. -1 '■ The “Sunday Express” .states: — “ Mussolini replied that Geneva is not suitable to discuss Tangier and suggests it be dealt with at a special conference elsewhere.” ITALY AND TANGIER. (Received this dav at 9.0 a.m.) ■ROAIE, Aug. 28. Italy replied to the Spanish Note assuring Italy’s desire to meet all Spain’s just demands, and agreeing to Spain’s suggestion that the Tangier problem he submitted to an Internaioiial Conference of Powers interested. Italian political circles infer from this that the Italian Government is unwilling that the problem should he submitted to the League of Nations.
