ANOTHER WOAIAN’S SUCCESS. [Australia & N.Z. Cable A»soo.ation. LONDON, August 28. Another American lady swimmer Airs Corson lias swum the Englisl C'anuel.

Starting from Cape Grisnez, in France. Airs Corson swam to Dover in fifteen hours 'and forty minutes. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON. August 29.

Mrs Carson entered the water at Cape Grisnez at 11.32 on Friday night and stepped ashore at Dover at 3.10 on Saturday afternoon. She began strongly nineteen strokes to the minutes. For breakfast she had cocoa, loaf sugar ami chocolate. Her husband accompanied her in a boat. The last four miles were gruelling, the swimmer fighting her way through the flood tide. She was exhausted when she reached the shore and staggered into the arms of friends. She beat the record of any man, but was an hour longer than .Miss Ederle. Mrs Carson, who was born in Denmark, is a naturalised American, twenty-seven years of age and mother of two children. She said before the swim:— “ A'ou bet your life l will swim the Channel. He stated he intended to give Afrs Carson £5,000. He lias issued a challenge on behalf of Mrs Carson to swim round Manhattan Island for a purse of £5.000.
