KITCHENER MYSTERY

POWER ACCUSED' OF IMPOSTURE. [‘‘Sydney Sun” Cables.] LONDON, Aug. TB. Air Singleton Gates, in an article in the “Daily Sketch,’’ asserts that the story of the discovery of Kitchener’s body in Norway was invented in November 11.121, in the presence of Arthur Vectis. otherwise Frank Power, 'flic reason was that a film entitled “How Kitchener Was Betrayed” was shown privately to Members of the House of Lords and House of Commons, badly needed publicity. The private display had caused consternation among the audience. One of Kitchener’s sisters declared it was an insult, to her brother’s memory. The press denounced it.

Gates said that Power knew the story was a fake, but he took over the film. The London County Council banned it. Thereafter, in order to create further publicity, a story of a visit to Norway and discovery of the body was suggested. A subsequent attempt to display the film under Power’s auspices resulted in the issue of .• summons against the kiiiema proprietors. Therefore, some months ago. Power began a story based on the or' ginal fiction in a weekly newspaper. Gates concludes: “These are the facts I am prepared to swear to them in a Court of Law.”
