AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

fAustralian & N.Z. Cable Association.] MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. SYDNEY. August 12. The Central Court to-day ordered the man McDonald, who was arrested on August .4th and charged with manslaughter in New Zealand, to he returned to Auckland. SPAHLINGER ’S TREATMENT. SYDNEY. Aug. 13. A report to the State Government by Doctor Mclntyre Sinclair, who visited Geneva, last year and made a close inquiry into, and examination of the Spahlinger treatment for tuberculosis, states. As a result of my own personal investigation and examination of cases treated by Spaldinger’s serum, I am of the opinion that he has discovered a remedy of considerable value, and every reasonable endeavour should he made to obtain, serum for use in certain types of tuberculosis disease. Sphitlinger’s vaccine is without doubt a valuable remedy, hut does not, in my opinion, teach us anything we did no know before in the production of antitoxic serum. Sphalinger succeeded where others failed. It is true the serum has its proportion of failures and that its administration is m many cases not unattended by discomfort and even occasionally by danger, but taken all over it appears to have many remarkable successes in cases of tuberculosis, even when the otliei known methods of treatment has failed In my opinion it makes a distinct step forward in the treatment of this disease.
