MEXICAN CRISIS.
(Received this day at 9.0 a.m.t MEXICO CITY, Aug. 8. Mediation, we shall never accept, said President Calles, in a publisher statement wherein life nrruir/us f” Popo for allegedly ordering Catholics to disobey the constitution. By what right does he do that, asked President Cnlles, who emphatically denied lie was trying to Sovietize Mexico. He attacked the Catholic Church for its intolerance and claims to infallibility. President Beguin, of Peru, telegraphed a proposal of mediation and received a sharp reply from Cnlles. Bishop Pnsqunl of Tabasco telegraphs that five were killed in rioting at Fnadahtjara and four hundred prisoners were taken. Catholics continue to defend the Chapel of Jesus, where two wore killed and several wounded. The ■ Government is very active with antiChurch propaganda throughout the country.
