THE WATERING INCIDENT The Alarylehone Club Co in ill it lee has ricverly ceusured the head groundsman and his two assistants—the forme because he ordered Hie hese to he placed across the pitch on Sunday afternoon, instead of waiting till Alonday morning, and Hie others because they did not make sure that the turncock was closed after testing the pipes for leakages. The report of Scotland Yard showed the head groundsman wished to water another pitch for a- match following the test, and instructed his assistants to test file hoses on the Sunday against leakages in preparation for Almidav’s watering. The assistants complied. They admitted they failed to examine the end of the hose to ascertain whether the water was cut off.
