On tlk motion of Sir G. Hunter, seconded by Mr Hudson, Mr Hockly (Rotorua) was elected Chairman of Committees unopposed. At the evening session, Death Duties Amendment Bill was read a second time, on the motion of Hon Stewart. Hon Young moved the second reading -of the Opticians’ Bill, providing for registration of those engaged in the practice of optoniatory. The Bill* was read and referred to the Public Health Committee, which will take evidence from interested parties. The Fire Brigade Bill was read a second time on the motion of Hon. Bollard! and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.
