Wimbledon championship meeting opened in fine weather and crowded attendance with a jubiliation celebration in the form of' a I {oval Pageant wherein the King presented commemorative medal to ex-champions from eightieth to last year. Despite the absence of Helen Wills and Laeoste the International element is strongly represented. The meeting is noteworthy as it is the first appearance of a Koval entrant, the Duke of York.
