Private advice has been received that the flood this morning did some damage to th? approaches of the Kakapotahi bridge. The flood also washed out some of the piles of Stuart and Chapman’s bridge across the main Waitana River.
Last evening about 0 o'clock in a small hut attached to Afr W. Reid’s resident.? in Beach St., a number of young lads were playing with some film in a "toy lantern, when the film caught lire and it set the roof of the hut on fire. Several of th,? lads were burnt about the bands and legs before the lire was extinguished. Ibis morning it was found necessary to send tin? yoifrrger child of Air Reid to the hospital for treatment.' he being burnt about the bands and face. An elder brother was also injured to a smaller extent, while a collide of the boys also received small burns, the others escaping scathless,
