FAMOUS MAORI GUIDE DELIGHTED. [by TELEGRAPH—PEII PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, January 21. “ I am delighted to he hack in dear old New Zealand. 1 have so looked forward to my visit to my Maori people and their friends. Staples Brown, better known as Maggie Papakura, once a famous Rotorua guide, on her return from England to-day. Airs Staples Drown will spend eight weeks in the Dominion. Great preparations have been made for her welcome at Rotorua, where a tangi is to lie held.
Mrs Staples Brown will ho remembered by hundreds of ex-servicemen, whom she entertained so lavishly m 1915-10 at her beautiful home at AVal-toii-on-Thanws. She was one of the most popular hostesses, who threw her home open to convalescent diggers. She left the Dominion 14 years ago to marry Air Staples Brown, of Oxford.
