The National Council of Federation of French Aline Workers adopted a resolution declaring that unless wages were increased by 31st. Jail., to compensate for the increased cost of living a referendum will be taken on the question of a general strike of French miners.
BRITISH FARAIERS’ PROTEST LONDON, Jan. 20
At the annual general meeting of the National Farmers’ Union in London. the milk and dairy produce committee reported that determined efforts should be made to secure the compulsory labelling of imported cheese under the provisions of the Merchandise Marks Bills. The Parliamentary Committee reporting on the million sterling grant for assisting the marketing of Dominion’s produce, endorsed the view that the taxpayers' money should not be coil loved to give preference to the Dominions’ produce over Home products in the British market. LONDON, Jan. 21.
E. IV. Langford, in a presidential address to the National Farmers’ Union. said the Government's policy of securing the maintenance of land in arable cultivation unquestionably involved some form of protection either through the customs tariff or a subsidy, when other industries were accorded statutory protection under the Safeguarding of Industries Act. He was Veit prepared to labiuidon one iota of their claim to equal consideration.
