ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.
PIGS AND BEEF FIRM,

Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regaiding tlieir stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store Sheep—A medium yarding, comprising practically all wethers. There were several small . pens of iambs yarded and in face of the present freezing hold-up and continued dry spell, we think they sold wonderfully well; in fact, the sale must be consjidcned good throughout-. Forward wethers made 24s to 24s lOd, best 2-tooth 22s to 24 s, smaller down to 18. s; best forward lambs 21s to 23s Id, smaller 10s to 18s 2d ; s.m. owes (not many in) 295. Store cattle—A small entry, mostly nondescript lots and hulls. Really no <1 notable lines were offered, except one pen ol empty two-year phi heifers which made £l. Fat pigs—A medium entry. Both sections of the market for porkers opened rates and anything of quality sold quite well. The majority of porkers from tlio West Coast showed lack of finish, but met with good competition from fatteners. The bacon market opened firm at late rates and held throughout the sale. Values were: Light porkers 47s to 51s, heavy 00s to 655, average’price per lb. Old to 7]d; light baconers £3 12s to £4, heavy £4 10s to £4 15s. extra to £5 10s, average price per lb. Od to 7cl; choppers, £3 to £G. Store pigs—-A medium entry and a small attendance of buyers. The sale opened much weaker than last sale and was easier throughout. Values were:—Weaners 177 c to £os, (better sorts to 23s Od, slips 24s to 28s, small stores 30s to 335, medium 35s to 40s, large stores to 50s; sows in pig £3 15s to £5 2s Gd.
Beet—Another big yarding, comprising a large proportion of cows. The quality generally was good and included several outstanding lines of steers. The market was firmer, especially for steers, and showed an average rise of 20s to 3f>.s per bead all round. Prime steers made £ls os to £lB 10s, extra to £2l, medium £l3 5s to £l4 15s, light prime £ll 10s to £l3, others to £8 10s, prime heifers £lO to £l2 15s. extra to £l4 10s, medium ,£S 10s to £9 los, others to £5 10s; prime cows £8 15s to £ll. extra to £l3, medium £0 to £8 7s Cd. others down to £3. Mutton A short yarding and a larger proportion of ewes than of late. Although exporters were unable to operate owing to factory troubles, there were scarcely enough for local nequiromlenls and consequently the market opened firmer and continued so throughout the sale, showing an average rise of Is fo Is Gd on last week. Prime wethers made 31s to 31, extra to 38s Id, medium 28s to 30s Gd. lighter down to 265, prime ewe.s 25s to 28s, to 30s 7d, medium 22s 9d to 24s Gd, others down to £l9 10s.
Trunks- Owing lo trouble at the laetories there was a very small entry in this department, operations being entirely confined to the trade.
