MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD
SOUTH ISLAND TOUR. AYEI.I.TXGTON. Jan. 12. A complete tour of the principal highways of the South Island is to he made by the Alain Highways Board, commencing on Friday and lasting till the end of January. Afemhcrs of the hoard who will undertake the tour are Afessrs E. AA. Fiu kert, Kngineer-in-Cliief of the Public AA’ork.s Department and chairman of the hoard. C. J. APTCenzie. assistant engineer of the Public AA’orks Department and chief engineer of the Highways Board, and P. S. AA'aldie (Government representatives), Af. IT. AYvnwnrd, representing
motor associations, and J. E. Jull and J. D. Bruce, representing the Counties’ Association. The hoard will be accompanied by its engineer. AI r Tyndall, and the secretary, All- Sutherland. The itinerary is as follows: January 15—Leave (Wellington for Picton and Blenheim. January 16—Leave Blenheim for AA’aikari. January IT—AA aikari to Hnnnier and Christchurch. January 18—In Christchurch, meeting Afotor Association and local bodies. January If)—Proceed to Oamarn. meeting local bodies en route. January 20—Oamaru to Dunedin. January 21—Tn Dunedin. January 22—Proceed ,‘to (Invercargill, deviating oil route towards Lawrence to inspect works at Afannka Gorge. January 23—Proceed tn Clyde. January 2-I—Clyde, to Queenstown and return. January 25—Clyde to Tininru by inland road.
January 26—Tininru to Springfield, thence by rail to Otira and Hokitika. January 27—Hokitika to AA T aiho, where bridge construction will he inspected, returning to Hokitika. January 28—Hokitika to Westport, interviewing Grey, Inangaluia and Buller Counties. January 29—AYestport and Nelson. January 30—Proceed to Blenheim. Picton and AA’ellington
