HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The Committee met at the School at 7 p.m. Present: Rev. J. F. Jack (Chairman), Messrs Wells, Goodfellow, Richards, Redder and Conning (Hon. Sec.) The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Railway Department re excursions to Dunedin.—Received. From Teacher, South Spit, request for prizes for good attendance.—Received. The Chairman and Mr Richards kindly donated books. A vote of thanks was passed to all donors in connection with the school prizes, and it was resolved to publicly convey same. Accounts amounting to £3 12s 6'l were passed for payment. A vote of sympathy in his illness was passed to Mr Wild. The Chairman reported that since last meeting a member, Mr W. H. Bishop, had passed away, and he had directed the Secretary to forward a letter of sympathy from the Committee to the relatives.—Action approved . It was resolved to hold the annual school excursion at Greymouth. either on Victoria Park, if available, or Omoto raceconr.se. the date being fixed for Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.
