NEW son'il WALKS EfOUHES. SYDXEY, December 20. While the vnluc of mineral production in New South Males Inst year was C 15.623,000. constituting n record for the State, there is every indication that the returns lor 1025 will he tit least as satisfactory, even if they do not eclipse the 1021 figures. The main factors contributing to this splendid result are silver-lead, coal, limestone, and cement. With the close ol the vear 1020 the aggregate value of the minerals produced in the State should approximate £103,500.000. Operations at Broken TTill during the year were attended with most gratifying results. 'File high average price for lend, silver, and spelter, together with an increased tonnage of ore raised, should result in making the value of the production lor ]!)?") much in excess of that for the previous year, which totalled £5,607,000. All the mines along the Broken Hill line of lode worked continuously during the year. Tt is estimated that the output of eoal in the State for 1025 will he about 11.000,000 tons. The highest output was in 1021, when 11.C15,000 tons of eoal, valued at £0,500.000 at the nit mouth, were obtained. A fresh record would probably have been, created hut for the shipping hold-up. The total output of the collieries in the State from the opening of the eoal seams to the end of 1021 is 200.753.781 tons. A slight increase in gold production is anticipated, although no new discoveries of importance have been recorded.
