[Reuter Telegrams.] FOG IN NEW YORK. (Received this day at 11.0 a.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 7. New York bears a strong resemblance to London, being veiled by the densest and most lasting fog experienced for many years. Traffic, botli on land and water is delayed. The tops of the skyscrapers have been obscured for three days. The street vehicles and elevated railway system have been slowed up. Many minor automobile accidents are reported. The boats in the harbour and river create a furious din whistling as they proceed at reduced speed. Several liners have delayed their sailing. Electric lights are burning m all the offices, while many workers living in the suburbs were late owing to the dislocated train services. The mantle hung »o heavily over lower Manhattan that only half the Woolwoi’th building was visible. .WHEAT POOLS CONFERENCE. WASHINGTON, Jan. 7. An announcement of the National Council of Co-Operatives to-day, says the plans for a conference in February of all the wheat pools of (lie United States, Canada and Australia are expected to receive an impetus at the informal conferences here during the fourth annual conference of the National Council of the Farmers’ Co-Operative marketing Association from January 12th to 15th.
DISARMAMENT. WASHINGTON, Jan. 7. The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives to-day unanimously reported on a resolution to authorise the expenditure ol filly thousand dollars for American participation in preparation for the disarmamen conference at Geneva. The cummitte rejected an amendment to instruct the American delegates to present a resolution calling for consideration of the advisableness of outlawing nations tliaf start wars of aggression.
