FRENCH SPY SENSATION
WOMAN’S VIVID IMAGINATION OR REVENGE. [Australia & N.Z. Cable Association ] PARIS, Dec. 9. There are indications that the espionage story is either the result of the woman’s vivid imagination or a desire for revenge on her English friends. No support is accorded tho story circulated that the two arrested Englishmen admitted belonging to tho intelligence service. Most of the press arc treating tho affair lightly. It is reported the documents tints far seized at the residences of the arrested men fail to suggest espionage. Several points of the woman’s storyare received with scepticism. It is pointed out that foreign missions are frequently conducted through the air service works. It is believed the arrested men are merely the agents of competing firms supplying wireless equipment and aeroplanes. Their release is imminent upon the payment of an insignificant fine. The British Embassy disclaims all diplomatic knowledge of the affair.
