A FRENCH SENSATION. PARIS, June 15.

Detectives at Marseilles discovered the body of M. Jacques Kumebc, a bank cashier, who disappeared in March. The body was bricked up in the wall of the consulting room of Dr. Bougrat, well-known Marseilles doctor. who was a close friend of M. 'Rnincbe.

The doctor was present and was handcuffed when some workmen broke down the wall and found the body. A crowd outside attempted to lynch tho doctor, who was severely handled before the police rescued him.

l)r Bougrat is 32 years of age, and is married, hut he deserted his wife, and has boon living beyond his means. This was the first cause of the suspicion. The police then noticed that one side wall of his consulting room had been re-papered, and when the search was made, the body was revealed. l)r Bougrat now says that Bumehc suicided Ity taking pnisin, and that he (Bougrat) hid his body, fearing that he would he accused of murder, hut the police believe that Dr. Bougrat is likely to be connected with other crimes. Dr. Bougrat was wounded seven times in the war. and was twice decorated.

PRINCE OF WALES. SWAZI WARRIORS WELCOME. CAPETOWN. June 14. The Prince Wales, after a. long ride a'-ross wild rugged country, reached Mbabane the capital of Swaziland, where he received an impressive welcome. which revealed the native in all his primitive barbaric splendour. A BISHOP’S FEARS. LONDON, June 15.

Rigid Rev. K. IV. Barnes. D.D.. D.Sc.. F.R.S., Anglican Bishop of Birmingham, preaching in Westminister Abbey, delivered a remarkable sermon on “ Catholicism and Christianity.” He said that the present slate of lhe Church of Lngland was causing grave anxiety. The Anglo-Catholics, lie complained, usually belittled and derided the value of Reformation doctrines, which doctrines they explicitly repudiated in their articles, in which they openly taught that this new Catholicism was essentially reactionary. There was a decline in the number and in the quality of the candidates for the Ministry. It as a most serious problem. With their grave shortage of clergy, their parochial system was breaking down. The differences within their church were so acute that, in the large cities, their churches were becoming congregrogalion,ul. not parochial. As the quality of their clcrgv declined, their outlook was becoming increasingly narrow. Bishop Barnes went on to declare that the Ixvst modern theological scholarships were ignored. The official committee had put forward noil-con-troversial proposals for a revision of the Prayer Book, hut when these proposals reached the clergy, their desire to give a Catholic turn to the Prayer Bool; showed itsc!l. “Wo stand.” he said, “at the cross-roads. M'e have seen enough recently of the situation within the church to he gravely apprehensive.”
