The steamer Ethyl, chartered by the American Chemical Society, sails on April loth, on a voyage to extract from the sea the chemical bromide (a deep reddish-brown liquid, emitting a brown vapour, and found in sea- water, in combination, but only in minute quantities to chlorine and idoine), in order to relieve the world shortage of bromide. If the expedition is sueeossfnl, it may result in a fleet of vessels being equipped as chemical laboratories to roam the seas.
