A meeting of the State Council of the Victorian Board of the Australian Railwayman's Union, passed a resolution expressing indignation at the arrest, of Walsh and the gaoling of the M.ueraki’s seamen. It was decided that the secretary he requested to convene a eonfo--?nee c;f all transport unions to consider in what direction the seamen might be assisted in their light. TASMANIAN HOLD-UP. HOBART; January 21. The recommissioning of the Nairana has not put an end to the Tasmanian troubles. It is estimated that there are at least one thousand stranded passengers in the State, five hundred of whom are in the south. As only 149 persons have booked from Hobart each trip it will be a fortnight before all can reach their homes, provided the steamer maintains a hi-weekly service. A request, has been forwarded to Mr Bruce asking if it is possible lor ihe Nairana .to resume tri-weekly trips, or alternatively, for a volunteer crew to man the Longann and Lowhead. After a meeting of the committee of management of the Watersiders Eedrntion, whose personal include representatives from each State, a statement was issued announcing the committee resented the action ol the Trades and Labour Council ol Adelaide in declaring the steamer Baron Maelay black. A telegram was sent to the Secretary of the Council iskiug that body to ml rain Irom interfering with, or declaring vessels black.
