LATE LOCALS.
Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. will sell the Westland Trotting Club's rights „o two publican's booths and the sweet, and ice-cream booth at its lorthcoming meeting at the Princess 1 heat re oil Saturday next at H p.m. The Rewanui section of the Stale Mine has been idle situe midnight oil Tuesday on account of trouble between the firemen and the management. It appears that three firemen at the Middle Brake Power House claim that they arc entitled to firemen’s wages, ami the management claim that they are -assistant” firemen, and not entitled to the full firemen’ wages. An attempt lias been made to adjust matters bv members of the State M nt Branch of the Westland Engine >n vers' Union, and the Management n. the State Mine, without suet ess. and. as it is at present, work seems to be held iqi indefinitely. A enidon-nce between the Engine Drivers' 1 mon ai.d the State Mine Managers takes place to-day. If this conference proves abortive! there seems little chance of the Rewanui section of the mine wolkng before Christmas.
