The Permanent Court of International .Justice elected Huber (Switzerland) as President for 1925-27, in succession to Dr T.odor (Netherlands). The change is interesting in view of the importance of the part the President will play in connection with the Dawes plan. CHINESE WARFARE. PEKING. Sept. 5. Chinese miltary authorities have closed the Changhni-Woosiing line, as a precaution against a possible land attack on forts, in the event of Kiangsuites breaking through at Liuho, 15 miles north-west of Wonsung. A second atteak by Kiangsuites yesterday did not mature. No serious fighting took nlace to-day. Chcckiangsites hold all the positions originally held. In the course of small counter-at-tacks to-day they raptured a regimental commander. Wupeifu denies any of his soldiers are fighting for Kiangstt.

The “Daily Express’’ Rome correspondent reports that a woman. tho owner of a fireworks factory at Avclla, near Naples, dropped a match in a t’owdor magazine, and there was an explosion which killed the proprietress, her two children and two women triends. The body of a well dressed man has been found in the hushes in Richmond Park in an advanced stage of decomposition. It is not yet established whether it is connected with the mystery e l the woman’s remains found in the same park as cabled on Thursday.
