CONFERENCE DECISIONS. WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. Tin- IMimkct Society resolved that ill view of the increasing demands by tho Government on Dr Trilby King’s services. the need lor an understudy be-disc-ussed without delay.
Dr Truhy King approved of the remit and mentioned that the l’lunket work was really a woman’s work. In his opinion Miss Patrick. Director of Pliiuket nursing, would make ail excellent successor to him.
l)r King reported that Mr Mc\ illy. General Manager of Railways, had replied to the' siih-coniiiiiUi'i' regarding the request for a reduction cm the railway tickets for delegates to the biennial general conferences of the Society in Wellington, that a proper business basis would he to arrange with the Health Department for a cross entry crediting the Railway Department with the* difference'. Were this dene, Mr MrVilly would do everything in his power to facilitate the granting of tin? concessions.
[t was decided to provide' a bursary at i he Dunedin Medical School to train a student to tali'- Dr Truhy King’s place whi n his services are no longer available.
Maternity problems were discussed. * Dr Ewing said that wards in public hospitals for maternity rases were not advisable. He was of the opinion Hint it would ho better to spend £12.000 oil. training the midwives now practising that sinking half a million in building
