BRITISH & INTERCOLONIAL EXHIBITION.

Despite record bad weather yesterday, there was a fair attendance at the Exhibition. Derry’s baud was the central attraction, and the two programmes submitted were enjoyed to the full. The evening programme was a request one, and the most popular items were repeated to the delight of those present. Subsequently Mr Demand the bandsmen were entertained by the President and Executive. Messrs Butler and Jeffries, voicing the thanks of the Council for the great treat afforded hv the visit of the hand. The bandsmen left to-day and are performing at Greymonth to-night. A schools excursion from the Inaiigahmi district will visit the Exhibition on Friday. The train will run from Tnangahua Junction, picking up passengers from there to Ikamatiia, thus giving the whole County ail opportunity of joining. The train is due to arrive at 11 o’clock is- the morning. Tho Chairman of Inungalma County is proclaiming a public holiday for the day. Given favourable weather a large number of people will make tho trip. The Exhibition authorities will arrange a special entertainment for the afternoon. The following day the Runanga picnic takes place.

TO-NIGHT. To-night there will lie a scenic lecture by Dr. Teiehelnmnn in the Orpheus Theatio. Admission will he free to nil patrons of the Exhibition. An entirely new senes of pictures will be shown, including some special Vestland scenes. The entertainment v. ill commence at S o'clock. TO-MORROW NIGHT. To-inor:ow night there will be a popu--1.-1r dance in the Orpheus flail, commencin'.: a B..‘Kb Admission will be olio .-hiding. Good music will he supplied, am", patrons will he able to pass a jolly evening. THURSDAY. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. (in Thursday. Friday, and Saturday nights. Joan Hughes and Murid Kershaw, both child wonders, will entertain the folk at the Orpheus’'l heatre in a novelty programme of sketches and monologues. Partieiihus of the | rogianime, will lie circulated in advame, and it will he, seen that « first-class novelty entertainment is to be provided. o’clock to entertain the vi-iting crowds. The Runanga band is accompanying the picnic party and will render a special programme in the Exhibition buildings fi'ciu :i to o o'clock of the afternoon, rise test pieces for the Christchurch band contest to lie held next monh will he played. Miss Lucy Cowan's juvenile troupe will arrive here on Monday next to assist with the entertainments next week at the Exhibition. Ibe troupe will appear on four evenings of nextweek, Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
