NOTICES OF MOTION
l..—The AA'estland A. and P. Association to move:—“That the strongest possible combined effort be made to have the AYestlaml County and the In, roughs of Hokitika. Kumara and Ko'-s excluded Horn the Greymotilh Harbour rating area.” o. The AA’estland Progress League to move:: —“ That consideration he given to the following list of activities for the promotion and development of AYestlaml. and sub-committees be set up to take in hand the respective suggestions for united action: tl Concentration on development of tourist traffic;
(•>) Widening of road to Lake Ivanieri amt flic featuring of the attractions of tin' Lake, with a road round the hake, and return route via Styx; (3) Tariff rates over the -Midland Railway; M) Promotion of industrial, pastoral and agricultural interests, of mining research work, as also drainage of swamp lands ; Advancement of the town of Hokitika, including the improvements of ocean front, park lands, and municipal reserves; :t*M Advertising the district by collection and publication of reliable data, and information regarding productivity anil general resources : (7) Railway services, improvement and extension, including use oj motor feeders from branch districts; (>' Rc-afforestation in Westland; (9) Hydro-electric development; (10) Improvement of mail services to .South Westland; 'll) South Westland railway extension ; (12 Need for closer settlement.'’ 3. —Air 11. M. Coulson to move:— ''That the Conference write to the Tourist and Public Works Departments urging the construction of a road to hake Mahinapua to give vehicle access to the attractive holiday resort.” 4. —The Chamber of Commerce to move :—“ T! lat a special committee ho set up for the purpose of co-operating with the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce in watching the freight charges on the .Midland railway, and endeavouring to have reductions made where considered necessary.” o.—The Westland Chamber of Commerce to move:—” That a joint committee of local body representatives be set up to watch the interests of the district in respect to the railway service to Westland, and particularly in regard io improved passenger connection by the through service.” It.—(tenoral matters.
