COAL MINES CLOSED DOWN
THROUGH GO-SLOW POLICY. [BV TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GREYMOUTH. Sen. 14. All the coal mines in the Grey and Westport districts were closed down by the owners to-day, with the exception of the State Mines. It is understood that the owners cannot make the mines pay under the go-slow policy-
SYDNEY. Sep. 13. The New South Wales Rugby Union considered a proposal to grant an amnesty to League players desiring to return to the Union fold. Discussion was deferred till a special meeting on October 10th. when the wording of the motion will he altered, as the sanction of the English Union is necessary before the proposal can become law. If »n amnesty is granted, an effort will be made to make it apply only to those who have not received cash payment. LEAGUE FOOTBALL. AUCKLAND, Sep. 13. The New Zealand Rugby League Council has approved the suggestion that a New Zealand rep. team should tour England in 1925.
