The whole of the afternoon sitting of the House of Representatives was occupied with formal business. At 7.30 p.m. the Hon R. I. Bollard moved the second reading ot the Gaming Amendment Bill, Immediately a debate arose which developed into a stonewall and continued until 5.30 a.m. when the second reading was carried I>V .">!) vote- to 0.
The House then went into committee but made no progress. Finally, on toe mot ion ol the Premier, progress was reported oil the understanding that private conferences would be held between the conflicting sections on tlie p ,ints at issue which were increased permits and improved conditions for jockeys, and when if an agreement was reached the Bill would come up again. The House rose at ti.-IO a.m. till 2.30 p.m.
