W’KST COAST RI GBY UNION
A meeting of the Committee of the West Coast Rugby Fition was held at Grey mouth last evening.
It was decided that the conditions of the Newman Shield, as drawn lip at the recent conference, stand lor the present season, as the AV.C.R. t.. with the Tnangahtia and Westland Sub-CTiions, had jointly agreed that there should be no interlerem e with the age limit this year. AYith regard to the coinpetition for the shield, it was decided that in the event of the Grey Technical and the Hokitika High Schools being unable to play before the holidays, they were to mutually arrange a date, as early in September as convenient. It was resolved that the Holden But and Motucka Fnioti's challenge for the Seddon Shield he accepted, and that September Sth he the date suggested for playing the match. A nomination was received from the Grey mouth Technical High School, for the Newman Shield competition in the southern district. Nominations were also received from the M a list and fares Wain Schools for the primary schools championship competition in the southern district.
It was resolved that L~> be voted towards the tost of train fares of tho representative primary schools’ team, which is to visit Christchurch to compete in the South Tshiml Inler-l uion Championship, and also that a complete set of jerseys (/West Coast colours) Inprocured for the re]>. school Imys. the jorsevs to he the property of the union. It was decided to write to Hokitika suggesting that a. mutch between - re-o’-eseiitativc junior tcnni irom their dis Irict and a Greymoullt team he arranged as a curtain-raiser for the Seddon' Sliield match against the Bays, on September Pth. A request was received from the Westland Kids-l'ninn, asking that alternate freddon Sliield matches he pluyei! at Hokitika. It. was decided to point ~-ul that before any change in tin- plav[n ,r of the match could be made, the visitiiiil union would lirst have to be consulted, as the I'mamial .aspect concerned them more than it aid the W.C.R.r. lor they received (ill per cut. of the cate, according to the rules.
